Local Art Exhibits

The Geauga Arts Council sponsors a number of local exhibits in conjunction with businesses and organizations throughout the county. We offer Geauga Arts Council Members unique opportunities to showcase their work in these public spaces. With amazing venues that feature premium display space on a quarterly rotation, you can take advantage of this great opportunity to display your art to a public audience. Read below to learn more about each of our local venues.

Bainbridge Public Library:

This beautiful, newly constructed library features original and diverse artwork of our members. The library is located at 17222 Snyder Rd, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023. 

Geauga West Public Library:

Joining our venue list in 2023 is the Geauga West Public Library. The artwork greets you to the left of the entrance, by the seating area and within the main conference room. Ask the librarians to direct you! The pieces on display are for sale and highlight the work of a local artist member of the Geauga Arts Council. If you are visiting the library, be sure to check out the exhibit. The library's address is 13455 Chillicothe Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026.

UH Geauga Medical Center:

Just past the gift shop in the UH Geauga Medical Center, patients, staff and visitors get to enjoy our longest-running sponsored art hallway. The pieces on display are for sale and highlight the work of a local artist member of the Geauga Arts Council. If you are visiting the hospital, be sure to check out the exhibit. The hospital address is 13207 Ravenna Rd, Chardon, OH 44024.

Notre Dame Village:

Added to our roster in 2022, Notre Dame Village's Community Center brings joy to its residents and visitors by displaying original artwork by local artists. The Community Center is located at 10950 Pine Grove Trail, Chardon, OH 44024, and can be viewed by appointment or during a Happy Hour event. Notre Dame Village encourages visitors to call ahead. Tame Rabbit Specialty Coffee & Roaster

A cozy and delicious café, Tame Rabbit is our smallest venue, but features daily foot traffic and habitual visitors. Stop in and see the collection of art in the back hallway. Located at 516 E Washington St. Unit K, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022.  Their hours are Monday - Friday 7am-2pm, Saturday 8am-2pm, Closed Sunday.

Venue rules for Exhibiting your work

  • Any member of the Geauga Arts Council may apply to exhibit his or her work through Art in the Mart.

  • Please email the Council to describe your work and tell us why you would be a good fit for this opportunity. Please send high quality images and details to geaugaarts@gmail.com

  • You will be contacted when an opportunity arises at any of the venues.

  • You will be expected to hang your own pieces with the help and direction of the venue coordinator.

Where to start:

    • Any active member of the Geauga Arts Council may apply to exhibit.

    • Fill out an application here. Describe your work and tell us why you would be a good fit for this opportunity.

    • You will be contacted when an opportunity arises at any of the venues.

    • Each venue has its own personality and can accommodate different varieties of art. Some venues are best for certain price points, sizes of work, number of pieces etc. We will determine the best venue for you.

Prepare your Art:

  • Most venues are unable to take three -dimensional art at this time.

  • Hanging art MUST be secure in a frame or gallery-wrapped canvas, and with a wire hanger.

  • All art should be clean and in the best condition possible, including frames.

  • All art is required to have the artist's name and piece title somewhere on it. Preferably on a label affixed to the back of the piece.

  • You will be sent an Excel spreadsheet to fill out all artwork titles, mediums, size and sale prices. Be sure that these titles and prices are correct. There are no changes permitted once tags are printed.

  • The Council will prepare tags that will be affixed to the wall with a non-damaging product. To the lower right if possible.

  • Individual items may be excluded at the discretion of the Council or the venue.

  • No image should violate any copyright laws.

  • You will be notified if there are any additional restrictions at any venue.

  • Any member of the Geauga Arts Council may apply to exhibit his or her work through Art in the Mart.

  • You will be expected to hang your own pieces with the help and direction of the venue coordinator.

Hanging your Art:

  • There are no hanging supplies available at the venue, and your work may be refused if not wired or secure.

  • We will work with you to arrange with the Venue Coordinator for a time that is convenient for install.

  • You or someone you designate MUST deliver your art at the day, time and location specified.

  • GAC and venue volunteers will hang your art. You are not required to stay.

  • Artwork will be on display a minimum of three (3) months as determined by your show dates.

  • Following the exhibit, you will be responsible for taking down your work on the day and time specified with the Venue Coordinator, with assistance from Art Council Board Members.

  • Any member of the Geauga Arts Council may apply to exhibit his or her work through Art in the Mart.

  • You will be contacted when an opportunity arises at any of the venues.

  • You will be expected to hang your own pieces with the help and direction of the venue coordinator.

Sale of your Art:

  • At least 75% of your pieces entered must be offered as For Sale.

  • All sales are handled through the GAC website. The Venue does not handle the sales.

  • Photographs of yourself and/or your work will be displayed on our website and social media platforms, and available for publication in print for advertising purposes.

  • Show tags will display a link to the Arts Council website where sales can be completed online.

  • The item will stay on display until the end of the show (unless other arrangements have been made) and will then be picked up by the purchaser. Sold items will be clearly marked.

  • All works in exhibit are under contract for the specified exhibit period. Any (privately sold) sale of artwork included during the contracted period is subject to Geauga Arts Council commission.

  • Sold artwork can be picked up following the show at the location it was displayed, at our office located within Artisans Corner Gallery at 11110-6 Kinsman Rd. Newbury OH, 44065 depending on arrangements made with the buyer.

  • The artist receives 70% of any sale and the Council 30% minus transaction processing fees.

  • Sales tax will be handled by the Geauga Arts Council.
