Through a partnership with Chardon Middle School,Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio, and Geauga Lyric Theater, students have developed Flight 93 Residency Project:An Oral History Presentation.
Spearheaded by Tim Bowen of Chardon Middle School and Kristan Rothman of Young Audiences, the goal of this project is to educate and inform students of the events on September 11, 2001. According to Rothman, these events are often totally excluded from school texts and including them is on the shoulders of teachers to develop an added curriculum.
The students in this project, one or two years old at the time, have interviewed members of their community about the events of September 11, 2001 and the heroic actions of the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93. Together with professional actor Jimmie Woody, a resident artist at Young Audiences, and Angela Miloro-Hansen, writer and Geauga Lyric Theater member; the interviews were turned into a scripted presentation.
Students will perform their creation at the Geauga Lyric Theater on May 26, 2011 at 4:00 PM.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
Other commemorative events will be held on Chardon Square following the presentation, including a free performance by The Saints at the Gazebo.
This collaboration has been generously supported by the Lake-Geauga Fund of The Cleveland Foundation. |
